General Meeting – 4 September 2024

General meetings of late have been less invigorating than we would like them to be. The meeting coming up on the 4th of September will break that trend with a significant presentation from John Webb. John is a highly experienced researcher from La Trobe university and has a wealth of knowledge to share with us. The best way to experience the presentation is to come along to the Kathleen Syme Library in person. You will have the best vantage and will be able to interact directly with John to challenge him with your trickiest speleological questions. This will be well worth the trip into town.

We also have a few trips on the programme that have attracted much interest from members. The leaders of those trips will be on deck at the meeting. This provides an opportunity for participants to meet with their leader and group before the trip and talk about expectations and opportunities for the trip. It also provides an opportunity for other members to discuss with our leaders the running of trips in the future. Nothing excites a trip leader more than to have members hassling them to run trips. Excitement from members is contagious, so come along and spread the infection. By speaking with experienced cavers you will discover opportunities that you might   not have known existed.

For all the armchair cavers, it’s time to leave the safety of the lounge room and head into town to catch up with friends. There are many people whom I have not seen for a while and I would like to refresh my memory before I forget them completely. Although, most of them are so memorable there’s no hope of forgetting them. Come in anyway.

See you at the meeting.

Cheers, Nigel
