We are seeking four volunteers to assist Nayeli with her PhD research in Scrubby Creek, upstream of the sump. The aim is to collect sediment samples for analysis at La Trobe University, where they will be tested for the presence of extremophiles living in the streamway.
The trip will involve at least five hours underground on Saturday, 30 August. Due to group size limits (maximum six people per trip), we can only accommodate four volunteers, in addition to Nayeli and Tom Elms.
Requirements:
  • Waterproof head torch
  • Wetsuit (mandatory due to the slow pace of the trip and risk of getting cold)
Please note: The sump may be closed depending on weather conditions. We will assess accessibility in the lead-up to the weekend.
Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To express interest, contact Tom Elms directly on 0417 770 947
