Mole Creek with Deb Hunter

When

27/11/2025 - 28/11/2025
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Deb Hunter is inviting two more members to join herself, Ian Mackay and Tom and Rochelle at Mole Creek.
Thursday 27 November
Cethana Canyon (Machinery Creek): A spectacular, deep and large canyon facing north to north-west, ideal for days with long daylight hours. It is situated 45 minutes drive from Mole Creek and requires a car shuffle. One hour’s walk each end and 8 pull-down pitches plus some scrambling. You should expect up to 8 hours between cars. Tasmanian highland conditions can be cold, but if there is too much water our poor weather the trip will likely change to caving at late notice.
Friday 28 November
Croesus Cave bounce trip: some say it’s Mole Creek’s best limited access caving trip (max 6 people). This will be a bounce trip, in and out again through the outflow entrance. This cave is always cold, but excepting rare activation of flood routes in heavy weather, only carries a trickle of mineral saturated seepage water. We are wading most of the trip. There are some deep pools. We should expect to be 3-4 hours underground.
Other trips can be facilitated around this time if there is interest. Deb is happy to loan ropes and gear.
