The next instalment of the Mt Porndon project. The proposed programme for this trip:
Friday March 20th.
SRT practice on rock face at the Nest during the afternoon. Dinner followed by short drive for Arch Cave exploration. Full extent only if bats not roosting on low ceiling of last chamber.
Saturday 21st.
Exploration and survey of Horse’s Mouth (discovered by Sarah during MPE3), along with exploration of Tallow Pot, then Willang Kil if time permits.
Drive to “Exploded Gas Blister” (just a name, not true genesis) for picnic lunch then exploration, continuation of survey and commence dig in Mars Cave. Return to the Nest for sit down dinner (supplied including vegetarian option).
Sunday 22nd.
Options include Bradley’s for exploratory drilling (stca) and photo ops of recently described lava features in the terminal chamber, Aurora for biofilm sampling and a push in Refuge and Shinbone Caves as relocation of dirt is still delivering new passage. All of these options will give way for a line search to the south of the Mount on a new to the VSA, but anecdotally cave holding, property.
