This year we are hosting the second edition of SRT Level 1 course, a course designed for people new to vertical caving. Last year’s course was a great success so sign in quick as places are limited. This course takes you through all the techniques needed to access a vertical cave, from no experience to confidence and understanding rope work.
There is no prerequisite for this course and any keen caver is welcomed to participate. Participants will learn the alpine style single rope techniques used in caving and at the end of this course will be ready to tackle any vertical cave. This course is also a prerequisite for the Level 2, Cave Rigging Techniques.
All communal gear is provided but each participant will have to have their own personal caving and SRT GEAR or borrow some. We have some available, just ask.
What we will learn and practice:
– selecting and setting up personal gear;
– rope ascending and descending
– changing directions
– passing rebelays and horizontal traverses
– passing advanced, not so common rigged sections ( tyrolean, pendulum, directional descents, etc.)
– assisting a cave rigger and preparing materials for rigging.
We will practice both outside and in caves.
Further details and enquires through the Cave Rescue Victoria Facebook group.
