David Rueda-Roca and I will visit DD31 Swain Cave on Saturday 31 May Other cavers are invited to join us.
DD31 is one of the best Vic caves. It is mainly horizontal: just two short ladders and a handline to negotiate. There is considerable crawling, some in water with relatively low airspace. Double thermals or wet-suit are recommended. It is not too hard, but not quite beginners’ standard.
On this trip we will cover the whole of the Wonderland passage, checking remaining excavation possibilities. Duration probably 8 hours.
Logistics are to travel to Drik Drik on Friday evening, cave in DD31 on Saturday, and do some fill-in work locally on Sunday 01 June before returning to Melbourne.
I have addressed this email to names that come to mind as suitable. Please forward to any others who you think might be interested and eligible.
