RDF trip into Federal cave. The aim is to more accurately locate the significant Federal cave features on the surface, as well as the known cave extent, I won’t say end! Work has already been carried out on the surface with GPS and then using GIS to roughly fix the position of the Caves reserve system. Using BING & Google Earth we have roughly fixed the outline of the Reserve caves onto surface images. We now need to more accurately orientate these maps, to assist with the finding of the Federal Cave extensions, and a possible new entry. At this stage it looks good. We will need both surface & cave teams to run the RDF location. Expect some frustration, and squeeze caving.
Date – An advance Team will go to Buchan Thursday the 30th jan ( Ok the caving fossils ) to fine tune the RDF. The real work will be
over the weekend 1&2nd Feb.
