General meeting followed by Post-meeting presentation: Robert Brain –

Yorkshire Dales – a tour of White Scar Cave and region

During a recent holiday to Great Britain, Rob Brain and wife Wendy did a quick trip to White Scar Cave (via Ingleton, Yorkshire). In this session Rob will share experiences and photos of both the region, and White Scar cave – reputed to be the longest show cave in Britain (more info here: https://whitescarcave.co.uk/). The session will include some photos of the area and cave, as well as background information about the locality, the Yorkshire Dales, and some frightening statistics about the numbers of cave rescues in the region. For those who might visit, there are other tourist attractions nearby (eg. Ribblehead Viaduct, and The Station Inn). This session will also trigger lots of discussion from other VSA members who have also visited the caves in the Yorkshire Dales, so meeting attendees can come armed.

Rob Brain was an active caver and VSA full member in the 1970s, and a founding member of Rimstone Co-operative. He still follows speleological matters with great interest.
