G’Day all ! Over the March Labor day long weekend that is March 10th to 12th 2018 we are running a multi focus working bee at & in M3 or as we better know it as “Shades of Death Cave” our cave!
Some of the things will be to continue with the external site cleanup, top coat paint on the previously prepared hand rails in the Tourist section, repair of external infrastructure fencing, cleaning the out dirt, sticks and stuff that have been swept into the first section ofM3 ( You will need full caving gear & possible vertical kit as well on this job)
Help out the vertical cavers with the planning of an eventual fixed SRT cct in M3.
For a more technical bend – Perhaps plan to start a new survey using latest equipment & programs like Map Maker, Arianes line and of course Cave Compass. VSA has DistoX equipment it can loan out on this survey – A photo geometric project has made a start – but after our first attempt we need to learn more.
Also for you agile cavers check out the inner M3 cave sections’ state of cleanliness & recommend where track marking & cleaning is needed – take a good camera along, as well as applicable sections of the existing M3 map so you can relocate the spots needing attention.
There will also be some surface GIS going on as well.
Remember – Bring caving gear, you will need a head lamp & helmet, safety gloves & glasses, pack a lunch, and any other stuff think maybe use full –
We can have a look at our Scrubby property as well, time permitting.
BBQ sausage sizzle, salads, bread & sauce & sweets on Saturday night, not free it will cost you $2.00 Byo drinks.
Yep! you will need to pay your Homeleigh accommodation costs as well, sorry we need the lot to pay for the cave.
Please let Daryl Carr know if you are attending so he can provision the BBQ & most importantly see how much caver power is available.
PS I will be at Buchan with Peter Rob on the weekend after our Feb meeting 10/11 Feb. Doing FOB Caves stuff in Federal Cave , checking out our new donation board in Fairy cave and planning the M3 working bee. All welcome to turn up.
