History of Exploration

Captain J.Maitland Thompson, Harbour master from Port Pirie conducted  many expeditions  using aircraft to find caves from 1935. He led several more trips until 1952

Keith Quartermaine, a lecturer at the Kalgoorlie School of Mines accompanied Captain Thompson on his 1952 expedition.

Elery Hamilton-Smith accompanied Kieth Quartermaine on his later expeditions.   E. Hamilton-Smith was a long standing member of VSA

Max Meth, Ian Lewis, Ray Gibbons, and Graham Pilkington (CEGSA)

Denis Marsh and Ian Curtis (OSS),     John taylor (Kempsey NSW)    Henry Shannon. (Tas)

Peter Ackroyd, Nicholas & Susan White, Daryl Carr, Margaret James, Rudy Frank.  (VSA)
